dinner (main course), talk, and a coupla drinks...
so it was, and so it turned out to be one of those rare conversations you don't really want to end, sipping wine and talking of shoes and ships and sealing wax, and cabbages and kings, err.. unliterally speaking.

He had a lovely smile.

~~silly as it was, i couldn't stand looking straight at the acquaintance's eyes, for they, as i recall, sparkled excitement, beauty, subtlety, humour, and dreams that had liberated me from reality. At least for awhile, I was...someone else...someplace else. So i focused on the moles that were perfectly alligned below the acquaintance's eyes. aaah.....
She had a killer smile.

Rock’n’Roll & Rising Sun…

The companion chose Rock’n’Roll… (nice pick, I thought. Good enough to confirm the effervescent soul that I sensed she was, but which I somehow doubted). My pick, Rising Sun, resembled a bit of hope in the mélange of the avocado, rice, raw fishes, ginger, mayonnaise, crabmeat, seaweed, and whatever other stuff they had rolled together. And hope I did, that we rise and rock till the sun rolls up the evening, that we roll and rise while the sun rocks, that the sun not rise until we have finished our rock and roll.

An instant when the foot touched my shin, and at that instant, time seemed to freeze for an instant, bringing about to the mind a breeze of the possibilities that this may mean. Or the possibility that this may not mean. I assured’er it was probably because Japs have short legs. …my, will you look at that smile…
So we continued to talk of rio (de Janeiro? Brazil? I dunno.)……
